Managing Partner & Portfolio Manager

Kai started investing at 16 and hasn’t stopped since. He holds a BA in Environmental Analysis from Pitzer College (one of the Claremont Colleges) and was awarded a Fulbright research grant. He worked for a Denver family office focused on real estate before joining Align Impact, a premier multi-family office in impact investing, where he invested in private placements and hedge funds on behalf of some of the wealthiest families and institutions in America. Kai is a CFA charterholder — having passed what the Financial Times calls “Wall Street’s hardest exams” above the 90th percentile — holds the Series 65, is a registered investment adviser in Colorado, California, and New York, and carries the FSA Credential from the SASB.

Ed Wasson

Co-founder & Mentor

Ed Wasson was a close friend, mentor and business partner. He invested family capital across multiple market cycles dating back to the 1930s. He was an experienced petroleum engineer, oil, and stock market investor. From 2014 to his passing in 2024, he passed on a discipline rooted in buying exceptional businesses, paying reasonable prices, and holding through volatility. That inheritance — patience, independence, and conviction — remains the foundation of KB Capital today. This website and the Fund are dedicated to his memory.
